New numbered entry for Street Fighter confirmed

The popular fighting game is moving on from Street Fighter 5 with Street Fighter 6. Capcom, the brains behind the Street Fighter franchise, has officially revealed the new numbered entry to the popular action game series. Besides the classic one-on-one melee matches, there are other features both old fans and new players will love.

Street Fighter 6 shows off a new visual style that has evolved from Street Fighter 5. The fighters also have a slick-looking character model that appears to be developed on the RE Engine. Lots of old fan favorites are going to appear.

Street Fighter is Capcom’s flagship series, with five released main games and various spin-offs and crossovers. It is one of the highest-grossing video games of all time. Not only that, but it is also the highest-grossing fighting game media franchise of all time. Six years after its last main game entry, Capcom announced that the new addition, Street Fighter 6, is in development.

The official trailer release teased fans with slicker-looking character models for Luke and Ryu. Joining these two are classic fan favorites like Chun-Li, Manon, Dhalsim, Zangief, and Ken. There are other recurring characters who will be introduced over time, such as Rashid, A.K.I, Ed, and Akuma. However, these fighters need to be purchased by the player either individually or through season passes.

More than the new character models, the entire game looks to be slicker so far. It appears as though it was developed on the RE Engine. Furthermore, it features different gaming modes, which are Local, Online Versus, Arcade, Training, World Tour, Battle Hub, and Extreme Battle. There is also a real-time commentary feature that has subtitles available in 13 languages.

Chun-Li returns in Street Fighter 6

SF6 Chun-Li, one of the most iconic characters in the fighting game genre, makes her comeback in Street Fighter 6. With a fresh look and her legendary powerful kicks, she remains a force to be reckoned with. Chun-Li now runs kung fu classes and is a beloved member of her community, enjoying shopping with Li-Fen and days off, while disliking crime and indecisiveness.

Juri's sadistic thrills continue in SF6

At Street Fighter 6, Juri, who made her debut in Super Street Fighter IV, retains her sadistic personality and love for obliterating foes. With M. Bison gone, she now seeks her next thrill. Juri's signature Fuhajin move returns, allowing her to store Fuha stocks, which can enhance her special moves and create unique playstyle opportunities.

Cammy's tactical advantage in SF6

Cammy joins the Street Fighter 6 roster with her classic agility and quick strikes. As a tactical fighter, Cammy is known for her speed and precision, making her a formidable opponent in any match-up. Keep an eye out for her impressive moves and combos as she returns to the battlefield.

Ryu's journey to greater heights

Ryu, a well-known figure in the Street Fighter universe, is confirmed for Street Fighter 6. As a sincere and well-mannered martial artist, he travels the globe seeking worthy adversaries. Having conquered the Satsui no Hado, Ryu now aims for even greater heights in his martial arts journey.

Newcomer Marisa joins the battle

Street Fighter 6 introduces Marisa, a new character joining the diverse roster. While not much is known about her background or fighting style, fans are eager to see what she brings to the table in this latest installment.

Is Street Fighter 6 before 3?

According to Capcom developers, the story of Street Fighter 6 is set a few years after the events of Street Fighter 3 games. This marks the game as the current end of the game franchise’s timeline. Following the first installment of the game series, the chronological order would continue with Alpha, SF 2, SF 4, SF 5, and SF 3.

How old is Ryu in Street Fighter 6?

As previously mentioned, the events of Street Fighter 6 take place approximately a decade after Street Fighter 3. With Ryu’s age set at around 33 years old during the events of the aforementioned title, he would be around 43 years old in SF6.

Is Street Fighter 6 free?

Unfortunately, Street Fighter 6—much like the other previous titles in the franchise—is a premium game that you have to pay for in order to play. There are three editions for players to check out: the original, the Deluxe Edition, and the Ultimate Edition. However, players still have the opportunity to try it out for free by downloading the game’s demo. Take note, though, that the demo only features up to a certain point of the World Tour mode.

A futuristic Jurassic battle ahead

SF fans and Exoprimal fans alike can rejoice as the two games will be collaborating on an event that’s set to take place in the fall. Instead of their regular human forms, characters like Ryu will be taking on a more android-like look, which players can expect to provide some additional abilities to the iconic heroes. However, you can still expect part of the gameplay to be similar to the original game, so you won’t have to worry about relearning everything.

The events will take place on Bikitoa Island where Exoprimal's artificial intelligence, Leviathan, will be welcoming characters from Street Fighter 6. Here, you will have to explore an entirely new setting and go up against powerful dinosaur opponents. Interestingly enough, Capcom has dubbed this iconic match-up as “Capcom Collab 1.” Because of this, players can expect there to be even more similar events to take place in the future.

Turtle power takes over Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 players will be granted the opportunity to infuse their gaming avatars with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spirit. Through a variety of customization options, players can deck out their avatars with Turtle-inspired gear and emotes, allowing them to showcase their Turtle fandom in unprecedented ways. The addition of new titles, emotes, and stamps allows for greater personalization.

The ability to tailor one's in-game mobile wallpaper and camera frames further immerses players into the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, offering a unique opportunity for self-expression and creativity. One of the most remarkable features of this collaboration is the ability to transform the World Tour and Battle Hub custom avatars into iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters.

This innovation not only adds a new layer of excitement to the gameplay but also allows players to fully embody their favorite Turtle and engage in battles and interactions as these beloved heroes.

Hyping up fans

Overall, the reveal of the short trailer for Street Fighter 6 is enough to keep fans up on their toes. Although there is very limited information, it has already made waves online. And if the short visual teaser is to be considered, the upcoming game will prove to be showing the future of the franchise, if only the developer is more forthcoming with the details.
